Ac1dSn0w Claims To Jailbreak iOS 5 And 5.0.1, But Does It Really Work?

This morning there have been a lot of reports about a new Jailbreak utility called Ac1dSn0w from a relatively new Dev Team known as The PwnDevTeam. The developers of Ac1dSn0w claim that it’s in beta stages (for Mac users only) and that it can provide a tethered Jailbreak for the iPhone 4, iPhone 3Gs, iPod Touch 4th and 3rd generation as well as the first iPad on iOS 5 and 5.0.1.

Obviously because Ac1dSn0w is a new utility from practically an unknown source, it’s always a good idea to know for sure whether or not a utility such as this one works before attempting to use it on one of your devices. That’s where I come into the picture, after in-depth testing, I have determined that Ac1dSn0w does not work properly and it doesn’t provide a working Jailbreak. However, it’s unknown whether or not that’s simply because it’s in beta stages, or because The PwnDevTeam is a group of frauds fortunately though, it doesn’t seem to have any (obvious) malicious tendencies.

With that said, it’s a good idea to stay away from Ac1dSn0w due to its obvious flaws and the fact that it doesn’t really offer anything new – stick with what’s known, Redsn0w. Stay tuned for more updates on Ac1dSn0w, Redsn0w and the status of the unetethered Jailbreak.
