Ac1dSn0w Claims To Jailbreak iOS 5 And 5.0.1, But Does It Really Work?

by on November 27, 2011

This morning there have been a lot of reports about a new Jailbreak utility called Ac1dSn0w from a relatively new Dev Team known as The PwnDevTeam. The developers of Ac1dSn0w claim that it’s in beta stages (for Mac users only) and that it can provide a tethered Jailbreak for the iPhone 4, iPhone 3Gs, iPod Touch 4th and 3rd generation as well as the first iPad on iOS 5 and 5.0.1.

Obviously because Ac1dSn0w is a new utility from practically an unknown source, it’s always a good idea to know for sure whether or not a utility such as this one works before attempting to use it on one of your devices. That’s where I come into the picture, after in-depth testing, I have determined that Ac1dSn0w does not work properly and it doesn’t provide a working Jailbreak. However, it’s unknown whether or not that’s simply because it’s in beta stages, or because The PwnDevTeam is a group of frauds fortunately though, it doesn’t seem to have any (obvious) malicious tendencies.

With that said, it’s a good idea to stay away from Ac1dSn0w due to its obvious flaws and the fact that it doesn’t really offer anything new – stick with what’s known, Redsn0w. Stay tuned for more updates on Ac1dSn0w, Redsn0w and the status of the unetethered Jailbreak.

I found out that my Ipod 4G bricks when I reboot my device after a cydia update. Mine was a tethered Jailbreak but normally when I boot tethered now after pluggin it into my pc that didn’t work. I was about to update it anyway so it’s fixed now but with no jailbreak.

I find that 1 symbol on top of my settings icon really annoying, plus ibooks don’t work on IOS 5.0 so I updated to 5.01. Is there a jailbreak for it? I don’t mind tethered.

I hope so too, unfortunately some of the holes that The Chronic Dev Team found were patched up in the final release of iOS 5. However, there will be an untethered Jailbreak SOON – either from them or from The iPhone Dev Team!

Just stay tuned for more updates!

Can’t wait, new to iPhone but I like it so far. (Friend updated to the 4S so he sold his other to me very cheap) ;)
I really just need to unlock it for use on T-Mobile.
