Since the release of iOS 5.1 in March and the newer release of 5.1.1, members of the Jailbreak community have been anxiously awaiting an untethered Jailbreak utility. Recently, pod2g’s updates have delivered many ups and downs pertaining to which devices will be supported and when it will actually be released.
Last time pod2g slightly hinted at a general timeframe for a utility, he informed his followers on the 10th that a “nice” and “user friendly tool” is still “weeks away”.
Today pod2g revealed that in actuality, the next untethered Jailbreak utility for iOS 5.1 and 5.1.1 should be released in a “matter of days” thanks to the contributions from planetbeing (
@planetbeing) and Nikias Bassen ( @pimskeks).
At this point you’re probably wondering if your iOS-based device will be supported. Earlier this week, pod2g updated his blog to include a more current compatibility list.
While this is excellent news and an imminent release has been confirmed, unfortunately, there still isn’t a solid date – presumably to avoid users from overwhelming the servers. With that said, stay tuned for continuous coverage and a tutorial as soon as the iOS 5.1 and 5.1.1 untethered Jailbreak utility is made available.
