Today, I created the above quick review video of Apple’s new fifth-generation iPod touch and wrote this brief review to help you, my viewers, decide if the new device is right for you.
Featuring a new virtually enhanced 4-inch display, that matches that of the iPhone 5, the fifth-generation iPod touch’s retina display is better than ever and offers significantly improved color saturation and black levels. A new aluminum design allows the fifth-generation iPod touch to be both thinner and lighter than its predecessor, while still maintaining an overall bigger form factor.
The device has also adopted Apple’s redesigned lightning connector and speaker grill. The addition of the iPod touch Loop is ideal for using the new iPod during physical activities, as the lanyard-like accessory will help prevent the user from dropping it.
Apple has also updated the camera to 5 mega pixels, roughly matching the optics of the iPhone 4 and they have added LED flash. An A5 processor (similar to the one found in the iPhone 4S) greatly improves both graphics and performance.
With numerous color options available, the fifth-generation iPod touch comes in two different capacities: 32GB and 64GB. Starting at $299, the new iPod touch is a great compromise for the customer who isn’t looking for something quite as powerful as the iPhone 5.
Also, don’t forget to enter to win a new 32GB black and slate edition iPod touch.
