Apple Is Preparing Their Next-Generation ‘iPhone 5′ For Production With A Summer Release Date

by on January 25, 2012

According to 9to5Mac’s anonymous Foxconn source, Apple is preparing their next-gneration iPhone (currently referred to as the “iPhone 5″) for production stages. Their source also claims that there are at least two prototype devices hovering around the factories making it impossible to distinguish which one is being prepared for mass-production.

However, according to the leak from Foxconn, both of the prototype devices have the following in common:

  • A 4-inch+ screen (at least one of the device’s uses an LG display)
  • A radically different design from the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S
  • Neither of the known prototypes are production-ready

Apple started production on the iPhone 4S late last Spring and with this year’s iPhone preparing for production so early in the year, it’s likely that Apple will return to their pre-iPhone 4S Summer launch schedule.

With that said, stay tuned for more news and rumors related to Apple’s next-generation iPhone 5.
