Apple Prevents Jailbroken Users From Preforming OTA Updates

by on July 22, 2011

According to MuscleNerd, one of the most reliable members of the iOS hacking world, Jailbroken users will not be able to update to iOS 5 beta 4 using Apple’s new OTA (over the air) update method. This is because Apple preforms an application check and if it finds Cydia on your device it will through up a red flag, which in turn prevents you from preforming an OTA update.

At this point it’s obvious that Apple is doing this in hope of preventing iOS users from Jailbreaking their devices – let’s just hope that there will be a tweak Jailbroken users can install to circumvent Apple’s new “Cydia check”.

Stay tuned for more information and updates regarding iOS 5!
