In year’s past, Apple has followed different patterns as to when they start accepting pre-orders for new iPhone generations. Last year, the iPhone 4S was available to pre-purchase for avid customers the Friday following the event.
According to a report from iMore that was posted last month, Apple will be set to take pre-orders the same day as the unveiling event, which is tomorrow, Wednesday, September 12th. While an exact time wasn’t given, the report suggested that the iPhone 5 will be available for immediate purchase following the event, as both the device’s unveiling and pre-purchase would fall on the same date.
When will the iPhone 5 be available for pre-order?
However, today MacRumors has received word that Apple will accept pre-orders a couple of days after tomorrow’s event. The new report cites Apple increasing staffing levels at 6:00 AM Eastern time as being a logical indicator that pre-orders will begin on Friday morning, September 14th – similar to the iPhone 4S’ launch.
While the new iPhone will undoubtedly be unveiled during tomorrow’s media event, the exact date the device will first be available for purchase remains unconfirmed. Stay tuned for complete coverage on Apple and their upcoming iPhone.
