Earlier this week, on May 29th, Google co-founder Sergey Brin sat down with Gavin Newsom (the current Lieutenant Governor of California) for an exclusive. During the hour-long interview, Brin wore a prototype product variant that’s a derivative of Google’s Project Glass. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the project, details can be found in an article from last month.
The segment, embedded above, is just the two and a half minute portion of the interview in which Newsom inquires about the glasses. While it’s made apparent after watching the clip that a finalized product is at least a year away, it’s intriguing to see it in action.
When we last heard about Project Glass, the Google X team failed to mention specifics regarding how the enduser will interact with the device. It looks like we have our answer, at least from the prototype unit Brin was wearing, it appears as if the user will be able to navigate menus and access various controls via the touch-sensitive pad on the side while also using nondescript hands-free controls for different tasks.
The complete hour-long interview with Sergey Brin and his wife Anne Wojcicki will be available tomorrow night, Friday, May 31st, at 11pm ET and 8pm PT. Also, be sure to stay tuned for additional coverage on Google X and Project Glass.
