Today, only minutes ago, pod2g (famed iOS security expert and hacker largely behind the iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak) tweeted that everyone who’s interested in an iOS 6 Jailbreak should follow @joshmtucker, as he’s “heavily working on it at the moment”.
However, according to a new development from Musclenerd, the most reliable member of the Jailbreak community, that might not be the case.
Joshua Tucker, not to be confused with Joshua Hill (@p0sixninja) from the Chronic Dev Team, describes himself as an “iOS interface/interaction designer” – not a developer.
Shortly after pod2g recommended that Jailbreakers follow Joshua Tucker, images started propagating Twitter of Tucker and pod2g before the World Wide Jailbreak Convention (#wwjc) with a “Jailbroken” iPhone 5, which are likely fakes.
Of course, while Grant Paul (@chpwn) demonstrated that he could successfully Jailbreak the iPhone 5 on iOS 6 within a day of the device’s release, there’s still no word as to when a utility will be made available to the public, though it won’t come from Tucker.
Update: pod2g updated his followers with a new tweet, which states that an Untethered iOS 6 Jailbreak will “take weeks or months”:
To be clear : there’s no iOS 6 jailbreak ready. It’s going to take weeks or months to have one. Please stop asking me about it… :/

Hopefully additional news pertaining to both the iOS 6 and iPhone 5 Jailbreak will be revealed this weekend during the major Jailbreak conference, which is scheduled to commence tomorrow, September 28th at 9:00am Pacific time (12:00pm Eastern). Stay tuned for complete coverage on the status of the iOS 6 Jailbreak!
