Yesterday morning, Apple sent invitations to certain members of the press for a second fall media event, following their iPhone 5 September 12th unveiling.
Based on the plethora of rumors surrounding a smaller iPad with a screen measuring approximately 7.85 inches diagonally, it’s likely Apple will use next week’s event, which is scheduled for October 23rd, to unveil the rumored iPad Mini.
If Apple does indeed announce an iPad Mini during their upcoming event, the schedule for pre-orders and the device’s release will likely follow suit after the iPhone 5.
Announced on a Wednesday, the iPhone 5 was available for pre-order less than two days later on September 14th at 12:00am Pacific time and was officially release one week after pre-orders started. Similarly, if the iPad Mini is announced next Tuesday, it will likely be available for pre-order that Friday, October 26th. If that’s the case, customers can expect to either receive their iPad Mini, or purchase it at a retail location, on November 2nd.
However, while less likely, it’s entirely possible that the iPad Mini launch will take after the new iPod touch 5th-generation and the 7th-generation iPod nano – they were officially released and available for immediate purchase roughly a month after pre-orders started.
Despite any official announcement from Apple pertaining to the rumored iPad Mini, we’ll certainly find out next Tuesday – stay tuned for complete coverage.
