The Chronic Dev Team is undoubtedly well-known throughout the Jailbreak world for their major contributions to the community – including the following: Greenpois0n, Absinthe and the latest Absinthe 2.0.4, which was introduced as an untethered Jailbreak solution for iOS 5.1.1.
Earlier today, Joshua Hill (better known as p0sixninja: his online handle) announced that he has officially left the Chronic Dev Team:
Just so everyone knows, I’m no longer associated with Chronic-Dev Team
— Joshua Hill (@p0sixninja) July 31, 2012
Hill is arguably the most well-known, now former member, of the group of hackers and security experts that are the Chronic Dev Team. While his reasons for straying from the group he helped elevate to the top of the Jailbreaking community are unknown, shortly after his big announcement, he clarified that he was never in it for the money:
And hopefully by now everyone sees it was never about the money for me

So what does this mean for Hill and his former partners? As of now, he has yet to clarify whether or not he will fly solo and continue his work related to iOS hacking and exploitation (see update #1). The Chronic Dev Team however will presumably carry on as normal and continue their work on Jailbreak utilities as Apple releases new firmwares.
Update #1: It looks like the legendary hacker will continue his passion after all. Today, August 2nd, two days later, Hill revealed on Twitter that he left due to “the money drama” and that he wants to “have fun” by releasing his own “work and research”:
The reason I quit is because I’m sick of the money drama. I want to have fun and be able to release all my work and research

As usual, stay tuned for complete coverage on Apple, developments among the Jailbreak community and the iPhone and Chronic dev teams.
