Today pod2g announced on his blog that he’s teamed up with MuscleNerd, p0sixninja and planetbeing (all of which are key members in the Jailbreak community) to complete the Untethered Jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 running iOS 5.0.1.
Yesterday pod2g answered some frequently asked questions related to the A5 Jailbreak and why it isn’t available yet. Essentially, the exploit that pod2g discovered required an Apple Developer account to properly Jailbreak both of the A5-based devices.
Hopefully, with the assembly of the new Jailbreak super-team, pod2g will be able to make his deadline for the release of the Untethered A5 Jailbreak.
Here’s what pod2g said in his latest announcement:
@planetbeing, the legendary hacker behind iPhone Linux and lot of jailbreaks (see http://theiphonewiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=User:Planetbeing) has joined the A5 research!
The famous @MuscleNerd (http://theiphonewiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=User:MuscleNerd), the leader of the iPhone Dev Team, who did a lot of tests for Corona and whom integrated it and made it simple in redsn0w is willing to help also.
And last, but not least @p0sixninja (http://theiphonewiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=User:Posixninja), the leader of the Chronic Dev Team, and my partner for years on iPhone security research has started to code and fuzz the Apple sandbox.
We now have a dream team to find a path for a public release of the A5 jailbreak.
Cross your fingers.
Stay tuned for more updates on the status and progress of the (A5) iPhone 4S and iPad 2 Untethered iOS 5.0.1 Jailbreak.
