Pod2g Posted An FAQ Session About The iPhone 4S And iPad 2 A5 Jailbreak

iPhone 4S iPad 2 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak

This morning pod2g, the Jailbreaker and iOS security expert that’s working diligently on the A5 Jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2, answered some frequently asked questions related to the Jailbreak on his blog.
Here are the questions and pod2g’s answers:

Q: How could pod2g have an untethered 4S and dev teams still haven’t released tools to achieve this at home ?

A: The exploit I used to inject the untethering files to the 4S relies on having a developer account, and can’t be released publicly.

It’s the same reason why @MuscleNerd has an iPad 2 tethered jailbreak but couldn’t distribute it.
So, we need to find a distributable exploit to remount the system partition read/write and to set Corona files at the correct places.

Q: Why A4 version of Corona was easier to release ?

A: Because a tethered jailbreak is a good way to install Corona!

Q: Why don’t you do a tethered jailbreak then ?

A: A tethered jailbreak also relies on an exploitable vulnerability that we still haven’t found yet !

Q: pod2g, release this stuff quick, [your insult here], I’ve waited enough now.

A: If I could, I would!

Essentially, pod2g is reiterating that they released the A4 Untethered Jailbreak because there was already a tethered Jailbreak in place and, they can’t do they same thing with the A5 Jailbreak due to the fact that they lack the proper (bootrom) exploit for a tethered Jailbreak.

Hopefully pod2g will discover how to circumvent the need for a developer account relatively soon and release his highly anticipated A5 Jailbreak. Stay tuned for more updates on the status and progress of the (A5) iPhone 4S and iPad 2 Untethered iOS 5.0.1 Jailbreak.
