Steve Jobs’ Biographer Intentionally Omitted Classified Plans For The ‘Next Apple TV’ From His Book
When Steve Jobs’ biographer, Walter Isaacson, was interviewed by a Brazilian TV program, he said that Jobs disclosed information about his future plans to revolutionize the television set. While Isaacson didn’t exactly state whether or not Jobs warned him about the potential ramifications if he were to leak the information, after watching the interview, it’s obvious that Jobs at the vary least implied the dangers of a leak.
Isaacson commented on how he held back and guarded the secrets of Jobs’ plans for the future product because it would have been “unfair to Apple” if he had leaked the information prior to the public’s awareness of the TV.
Isaacson then went on to discuss Jobs’ passion on developing the perfect Apple TV set:
“He could have retired any time. But until he died he was still there, working on what would a TV set look like, what would a great camera look like, what textbooks would be like,” said Isaacson about Jobs’ dedication to Apple. “He didn’t need to do that, but I think he was driven by the desire to create great products, not the desire to make money.”…
“I’d like to create an integrated television set that is completely easy to use,” Jobs told Isaacson, “It would be seamlessly synced with all of your devices and with iCloud.”
Jobs went on to elaborate that “it will have the simplest user interface you could imagine. I finally cracked it.”
With tomorrow’s next-generation iPad media event right around the corner, there’s been massive speculation that Apple will also announce the next-generation Apple TV alongside the latest iteration of their incredibly popular tablet. However, if Apple does unveil a new Apple TV, chances are good it won’t be the same one that Isaacson is referring to – it will most likely be a plug-and-play box-style Apple TV.
While Apple may not release a full blown Apple TV set in the near future, Isaacson confirmed that there are indeed plans in place to eventually revolutionize the way we interact with out TVs.
