This week, on May 23rd, we learned that pod2g (an incredibly prominent iOS security expert and hacker) is planning on releasing the iOS 5.1.1 untethered Jailbreak, that he’s been developing, in collaboration with other members of both well-known Dev teams, in “a matter of days”. Yesterday, on May 20th, pod2g delivered the amazing news that an untethered iOS 5.1 and 5.1.1 Jailbreak utility should be ready for a release in “a matter of days”. Today, to better answer some the questions from members of the Jailbreak community, MuscleNerd (a very prominent member of the iPhone Dev Team) released a “quick info sheet for 5.1.1 jailbreak+untether”.
Since the release of iOS 5.1 in March and the newer release of 5.1.1, members of the Jailbreak community have been anxiously awaiting an untethered Jailbreak utility. Recently, pod2g’s updates have delivered many ups and downs pertaining to which devices will be supported and when it will actually be released.

Only four days ago, on May 14th, pod2g revealed that neither the third-generation iPod Touch nor the iPhone 3GS will be supported in the upcoming untethered Jailbreak for iOS 5.1 and 5.1.1. Today however, brings great news for the pre-A4 iOS-based devices.
